Racing Champion Karun Chandhok Inspires Brookmead School Pupils with ‘Drive to Victory’

Brookmead School had an exciting visitor today as former Formula 1 driver and author Karun Chandhok dropped in to chat with the children about his new book, Drive to Victory. The young pupils were thrilled to hear first-hand stories from Karun’s racing career and learn what it takes to chase your dreams both on and off the track.

Brookmead is proud to regularly host author visits, supported by Our Bookshop in Tring, helping to fuel children’s love of reading and inspire creativity. This commitment to bringing stories to life was recently highlighted as part of the school’s outstanding personal development during the school’s Ofsted inspection, showcasing how such enriching experiences form an important part of the school’s vibrant learning environment.

Drive to Victory is a fun and inspiring read that follows Karun’s journey through the fast-paced world of Formula 1, sharing valuable lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and believing in yourself. The children were captivated as Karun described the highs and lows of racing, making the thrilling sport accessible and exciting for all ages.

Adding to the excitement, a generous parent kindly loaned a detailed model Formula 1 car for display during the visit, giving pupils a close-up look at the sleek design and engineering behind the sport. Karun also took the time to personally sign copies of his book for the children, leaving them with a treasured keepsake from a truly memorable day.

The visit came just days before the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, one of the most iconic races on the Formula 1 calendar. With the country buzzing with motorsport excitement, Karun’s visit couldn’t have been better timed — inspiring pupils not only through his story but also through the real-world energy and passion surrounding the sport right now.

Brookmead School is grateful to Karun Chandhok for his visit and to the parent who provided the fantastic model car — an experience that brought the world of racing vividly to life and inspired pupils to ‘drive’ towards their own victories.
